About Me: Have you ever looked at your life and thought... Gees, I could write a book. Well, that's me in a nutshell. It seems I've been there-done that on more than just one occasion. I think I could pen some extensive volumes of work if I put my mind to it and I would not change the names of the fellow guilty and not so innocent to protect privacy. After all, it's already said and done right? I live in the picturesque and historic town of Hanover, Pennsylvania. It's 15 miles or so east of historic Gettysburg, the site of one of the largest and bloodiest three days of battle in our nation's Civil War. I visit there quite often to immerse myself in the history, myth, legend and lore of the place. Each trip is always a personal one for me. I had ancestors who fought on both the Union and Confederate fronts. I'm also about 15 miles west of the bustling city of York and 30 or so miles north of the Baltimore metro area in Maryland. Hanover is an interesting town. Not too big, not too small. We're known as the snack food capital of the world. Major snack food manufacturers such as Utz and Snyders make their headquarters here along with three to four other prominent snack producers as well. Hanover is also home to one of the largest populations of thoroughbred and harness racing horses in the country if not the world. They reside within the pastures of the world renowned Hanover Shoe Farms. There's lots more about this town I could go on about, but hey, I'm supposed to be writing about me right? I'm married to a beautiful brown eyed and dark haired girl. This December will mark 7 years for us.(See, I told you all I have a weakness for those dark-haired beauties with brown eyes didn't I). We have a 5 year old daughter who just started her first year of school in kindergarten. She's a brilliant, intelligent and beautiful girl who's almost a carbon copy of her mom. I have two brothers, one older and one younger. I also have 4 younger sisters. Thanks for reading this far and getting to know "about me". I'll add more as I go. C-ya.

Music: I LOVE MUSIC!!!! I can listen to and appreciate all styles and genres of music. My particular tastes lie in Classic Rock, The Golden Oldies (50's and 60's), The Groovy 70's, The Big 80's, Metal, 80's Hair Band Metal, Alternative, Adult Contemporary, Soft Rock, Easy Listening, Classical, Jazz, Country and Bluegrass. Believe it or not, Christmas music is my all-time favorite. It's not uncommon for me to have Christmas music in the CD player all year round at some point.

Movies: Movies are my thing. Give me a 55 gallon drum of soda, an industrial size tub of buttered popcorn and some chocolate and I'm ready. I can't think of many movies that I've seen that I didn't enjoy watching time and time again. I currently have over 400 DVD's in my collection and it's constantly growing. I like to watch movies that aren't gonna gross me out with blood and gore all the time. I save those for special occasions. I enjoy comedies, sci-fi, animated features(esp. Disney). I'm especially big on my 80's movies (You all know which ones- because we all have our favorites). They're my cult classics. I absolutely love Christmas movies. My collection grows as I can find them on DVD. Other than that I can watch just about anything as long as it can hold my interest for 1 to 2 hours.
TV: I don't watch much television, but I like to watch a lot of educational programming. Channels like Discovery, TLC, The National Geographic Channel, Discovery Science, Discovery Health and PBS are pretty popular choices. I absolutely love Home Improvement. I watch it nearly every day. I also enjoy CSI (all), Law and Order (all), American Chopper, American Hotrod, Monster Garage(although not on much anymore), Miami Ink, LA Ink and Ghost Hunters among others. I'm absolutely addicted to cooking shows and the Food Network. I'm also a fan of Hell's Kitchen and Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, both on Fox and BBC. (Note- My brother has applied for the next season of Hell's Kitchen). With a five year old daughter, I've become familiar with The Disney Channel, Toon Disney, Nickelodeon, Boomerang, Nicktoons Network, The Cartoon Network, Noggin, Discovery Kids and PBS.
Books: BOOKS!!! I love books. One of my favorite pastimes has been reading. I'll read anything with the written word as long as it is something that holds my attention, keeps me interested and I can garner or gain some knowledge from it. I like to learn something new. I have a particular interest in historical documentary books covering the Civil War through the Vietnam War. I like to read some historical fiction. Three of my favorites are Gods and Generals, The Killer Angels and The Last Full Measure. I also like to read biographies, science fiction, travel guides, books on law and general history, books on science, a lot of general fiction, classical literature, poetry and of course- horror (especially novels by Stephen King, Clive Barker, Wes Craven and Peter Straub among others). Suspense novels and law based thrillers are another favorite. Michael Crichton is my favorite in this genre. Needless to say, there's books everywhere in my house. I get them faster than I can read them, but I'll eventually get to them all. My one general all-purpose solve-it-all book that I go to whenever I need answers to life's problems is the Bible. I don't profess to be something that I'm not. I'm definitely no where near perfect, but we're all works in progress. But anyway, give the "Good Book" a look. It's worth it.

I like the simple things in life mostly. BOWLING-BOWLING-BOWLING!!! Lanes with a high scoring pace, good food, a nice hug, a long romantic kiss, drives with no particular destination, hot summer nights and cold drinks with friends, Saturday nights at the races(summer) or on the lanes (winter/year round), sunrise or sunset on the beach, talking with and meeting nice, beautiful women (esp. if they like to bowl), spending time with my family and especially my daughter.
Dislikes: Arrogant people who think they're holier than thou or better than others, dishonest people (just give it to me straight), backstabbers and two-faced people, drama (who needs it), people who think they have the right to judge or condemn others, rude people, anyone who would do anything to hurt a child or animal, traffic lights that turn red and stay red forever when there's no one else around, crappy drivers, people who don't know how to follow the rules of bowling ettiquette, people who complain about lane conditions (IT'S THE TYPICAL CHEESY CAKES EASY HOUSE PATTERN-GET OVER IT DUDE).
Hobbies: What can I say... My interests are very broad and eclectic to say the least. I consider myself to be very intelligent (IQ of 163) and I love to learn new things and expand both my mind and horizons. One of the things I love to do is cook and bake. So many people have told me I should have been a chef that I wish I had a dime for every time I've heard that. I considered culinary school, but I don't think I'd want to get into it professionally. I like to cook on a more leisurely level and take my time in the kitchen. I prefer quality in my cooking. It's sometimes sacrificed in a bustling, hot and noisy restaurant kitchen. I enjoy making hot, home style delicious meals that excite and tantalize the palate. Everything, from the basic to the most gourmet and exotic, if you want it, I can make it and I do it well. My cookbook collection thus far takes up the better part of thirteen shelves. That's not including the notebooks full of randomly collected recipes that I've obtained. As you may know by reading my "BOOKS SECTION", I love to read. I enjoy listening to music of all kinds. At this point I have around 650 CD's with more being added as I go. I'm a video game junkie. I don't spend hours with it, but I enjoy playing once in a while to pass the time. I love sports. I've always enjoyed them as a spectator or as a participant. My favorites are football(American), baseball, basketball, auto racing in all it's forms, track and field, wrestling (both amateur and professional- and by the way my cousin is a retired pro wrestler- Look for Roland on my friends list), softball and my absolute favorite- BOWLING. I don't get to bowl like I used to because of my diabetes and the constant pain from diabetic neuropathy, but I was good enough at one time that I bowled in several regional, state and national tournaments and PBA regional events. I'm what they called a classic "Stroker". I loved the finesse game, but I could really "Crank" it when I needed to. These days you have to have versatility, a good knowledge of your equipment and what the lanes are doing. I'm a lefty on the lanes. I averaged at my highest, 226 over the scratch league season and 219 in the sport condition league. My highlights have been bowling in the high level tournaments and PBA Regionals, my first 700 series, my first 800 series and my first 300 game. Nothing beats that feeling of knockin' down 12 in a row. Some of my most cherished memories were bowling with fellow lefties and PBA Hall-of-Famers Parker Bohn,III and Johnny Petraglia in some of those regional events. In York, I edged out Johnny in match play 258 to 237 in the final best of to move on to the next round. However, another Hall-of-Famer and PBA Legend Mark Roth ended my tournament that day with a 247 to 235 decision in the deciding game. He told me, "Kid, You're Pretty God Damned Good". I'll never forget that. I still have the picture taken with him and my brother(who was in the tournament as well) after he beat me. What can I say though, It's the greatest game in the world. It's just you, the pins and your ball. The rest is up to you. I often wonder what could have been or what levels I could have reached in bowling if my physical health was what it once was and had not declined. I love the study of history. My philosophy has always been that to know where you're at and where you're going, you need to know where you've been. There's many lessons to be learned from history, it's figures and events. I'm very much into Civil War Reenacting. It's very interesting to me. It's a great opportunity to be around historically like-minded people, experience history first-hand and educate the uneducated about the Civil War. I'm a science fanatic. I love to discuss scientific issues and discoveries. Quantum physics and other disciplines of physics are absolutely fascinating to me. Especially as it pertains to subspace, string theory, worm holes, dimensional existence, time warps, parallel universes, black hole theory, singularity theory, trans dimensional travel, time-space continuum and other things that are boring you by now. I enjoy things like the study of UFO/Alien phenomena, paranormal studies and phenomena, general studies of the unexplained, cryptozoology, the unknown and other things that boggle the normal mind. I'm a firm believer that there are things out there in this world of ours that simply defy any reasonable explanation. I enjoy good open discussion on subjects such as philosophy, politics and religion. I enjoy good culture and things such as museums, theater, opera and art. I love to travel. My dream would be to hop into a Greyhound bus-sized RV and criss-cross the USA state by state on my own time to see everything I've ever wanted to see. I'd love to travel to Europe and spend about six months or so just wandering around the "Old Country",and especially to see my ancestral homeland of Germany. I'd also like to do much the same thing in traveling to Southeast Asia. So much exotic beauty exists in this area of the world. All I've seen thus far is photographs and television images, that to my knowledge, does it's true beauty no justice. Who wouldn't want to see the wonders of Beijing, Shanghai, Kowloon Bay, The Great Wall, Hong Kong, Bangkok, The Philippines or Tokyo? I know I would. I'm a certified gear head. I've grown up around cars all my life. My uncle is still a National Street Rod Association State Representative. He owns a 35' Chevy, a 48' Morris (one of three known to exist) and a recently completed 33' Willys currently worth over 100 thousand dollars. I love street rods, muscle cars, classic cars, retro rods, lead sleds, restored/original antique autos, nice pickup trucks and import tuners. They all have their own unique beauty. I enjoy attending cruises and car shows of all sizes. When I get around these automotive pieces of art and horsepower, I'm truly on cloud nine. I couldn't mention cars though, without mentioning motorcycles. I like the old school brands like Triumph, Indian and BSA, but to me the sound and look of a Harley-Davidson is one of a kind. I've loved Harleys all my life. I'm also very much into the "sick" custom choppers that are out there. They are unbelievable in their exotic beauty. Each builder puts something unique into these two wheeled works of beauty. I'm also a lover of body art. I adore tattoos and piercings. I have five tattoos already with more to come hopefully. I especially love Asian themed designs. My goal is to have both arms completely "sleeved" eventually. Then, I'll move on to other pieces of prime empty real estate. I'm trying to continue my efforts to master and learn the electric bass. I don't profess to be any kind of a great player, but I'll get there at some point to where I want to be. Thanks for reading this and finding out more about me and who I am.
Vices: Being that I'm diabetic, my biggest vice is sweets. I've always had a sweet tooth, but I'm not supposed to eat so many of the things I used to enjoy. Boy is it a battle sometimes not to cheat. Pretty women and BOWLING.
Virtues: My easy going nature, my ability to be down to earth, being a good listener, being accepting and appreciative of the differences and individuality of each and everyone I meet.
Heroes: My heroes are few and far between. So many of todays so called heroes turn out to be anything but the heroes they claim to be. My heroes are mostly in my family. My heroes are the people of 9-11, both the victims and the brave men and women who tried to rescue all those who were still inside. My heroes are the men and women of our Armed Services who are so bravely sacrificing all every day like all those who came before and made the ultimate sacrifice for all they believed in. Whether it was the Patriots of the Revolutionary War, or the soldier on either side of the line during the Civil War, the soldier who stormed the beach on D-Day, fought "Charlie" in Vietnam or sits in the deserts of Iraq now. These are the true heroes. I can't forget the local heroes- our police, firefighters and paramedics.
